The Homgim Collapsible Wagon is one of the smartest purchases we have made with regards to youth sports. Gone are the days of multiple trips from the car, or having to decide what is important and what can be left behind in the car.
In full disclosure we purchased this particular wagon because it was on sale and had 4.4 star rating with over 650 reviews on Amazon, but it is still a no name brand. However, after our son’s first soccer game this year, where we had to lug everything from the parking lot to the soccer field at the far end of our high school’s sports complex, we knew we needed to find a better way.
The Homgim Collapsible Wagon is compact and very easy to use. When folded it is 8-in W x 11-in L x 23-in H and has a strap at the top to assist with lifting and carrying it when needed. When it is unfolded 22-in H x 16-in W x 28-in L with an internal compartment that is 15-in deep. According to the product description, it has a 255-lb weight capacity. The bottom of the wagon provides a solid base, as the 3 internal plates appear to be a fairly rigid plastic. The handle extends approximately 22-in and when fully extended, the handle is 3-ft above the ground. This height puts the handle at a very comfortable height for pulling the wagon around.
Like most wagons, the Homgim Collapsible Wagon’s front 2 wheels are able to rotate a full 360 degrees while the back 2 wheels are fixed. This provides good maneuverability when pulling the wagon through gates and along sidewalks. The compartment of the wagon is made of a fairly thick polyester, the frame is metal, and the wheels are plastic. In our opinion, the polyester should be pretty resistant to tears and rips and easy to clean. The nice thing with polyester is that it does not hold water so if we had to wash it down, it should dry pretty quickly, and we are pretty sure we will be hosing it down fairly often due to spills or rainy weather once we start spring sports.
The wagon itself is extremely easy to set up and fold up. Opening it up simply requires undoing the 2 Velcro straps that hold the base around the folded frame and then pushing down on the center post. The base then slides into the bottom and you’re good to go. Folding it up is pretty much just the reverse of the process where you remove the base, pull up on the strap attached to the center post and then wrap the base around the frame and fasten the 2 Velcro straps. Both unfolding and folding take approximately 60 seconds each.
Having the extra capacity allows us to bring everything we need to the sidelines, however far away from the car they are. We have loaded up the wagon with a small cooler, blankets, our daughters sideline activities, and multiple folding chairs, and have taken it across parking lots, sidewalks and grassy fields to get to where we are playing. As a coach, especially for younger kids, this cart would be very helpful to carry equipment for a practice or game in a single trip instead of having to make multiple trips to the car or equipment shed.
As we said earlier, we purchased this wagon on a whim after a brief review of the reviews on Amazon. We had looked at other wagons at stores and just never pulled the trigger, and getting this one on sale was an added bonus. So far this particular brand has held up and provided us with the flexibility that we were looking for, but it seems as if there are hundreds of brands selling these wagons both online or in store so we would suggest basing your purchase more on price and availability over going with a particular brand.
